SUBJECT: Vidwest Studios Funding: Support Community Media in Columbia
Hello,
I am a member of the Columbia community and a proud user of Vidwest Studios, Columbia’s community media center. For the past five years, Vidwest has given me and other residents access to affordable production equipment, studio space, and media education. Vidwest strengthens our community by providing a place where people create, share, and grow together.
I am concerned that the Council does not plan to continue funding Vidwest beyond 2026. Community media serves everyone: students, artists, small businesses, and everyday residents. Cutting funding would put this vital resource at risk and remove opportunities for creative, educational, and civic engagement in Columbia.
I strongly urge the Council to continue funding Vidwest Studios beyond 2026 to ensure Columbia remains a city where creativity, learning, and collaboration thrive.
